General Miguel Primo de Rivera y Orbaneja was the eminent promoter of the Ibero-American Exhibition. In fact, the project - from Latin American origin (1909) - came to an end during his dictatorship.
He integrated the Ibero-American Exhibition of Seville and the International Exhibition of Barcelona of 1929 into the Spanish General Exhibition. Both were conceived as a showcase for the regime in order to promote the economy, commerce, national tourism, and the image of Spain and its colonies (Morocco and Equatorial Guinea) abroad.
His ideology marked the public campaign represented by the contest praising nationalist, catholic, and Hispanic Race values.
The general resigned on January 28, 1930; the Exhibition closed months later, on June 21.
